[Preview] KINGS 7th ADVANCE

The KING OF KINGS prepares for another big show at Hayashi's Lounge in Tokyo Japan when they present the "7th ADVANCE" which takes place on Saturday July 11th, 2009.

It's a double main event as #7 Japanese ranked Ronnie Carlton (5-1-0) will face the #10 ranked Logan Strauss (3-0-0) for the (vacant) Light Heavyweight crown. Carlton has won both his KINGS fight since arriving from D.I.F.O. and with only one loss has positioned himself for a chance at the title. Team-UOC's Logan Strauss is undefeated in three matches and the German has showed excellent prowess since arriving in KINGS.

In the secondary main event, the #7 ranked Heavyweight in Japan Mako Voki (4-0-0) will face PRIDE veteran JT Colossus (3-2-0). Voki and Shinya Imanari were suppose to do battle for the Heavyweight title but Imanari suffered an injury after his last fight and is still out of action. Voki will use this match a tune-up for his upcoming title fight but you can bet Colossus has other plans. If Colosuss wins he could be setting himself up to be the first challenger of Voki/Imanari.

Lightweight Hiroshi Kobayashi (2-0-0) will face newcomer Tiki Chong (1-0-0). Kobayashi's last victory was at KINGS 3rd ADVANCE on 6/18 when he won via decision. He's is a late fill in for Takashi Kakihara who mysteriously did not answer the offer for this fight. Chong will make his KINGS debut after a QFC submission victory back on 6/28.

Croatian Heavyweight Marko Perkovich (3-1-0) meets Taisuke Masakuni (2-2-0). Perkovich is coming off a loss on 6/29 at KINGS FIGHTING ARTS FESTIVAL after starting off his career with 3 straight wins. Perkovich narrowly lost out on a chance to battle for the Heavyweight crown and will be looking for total redemption. Masakuni has one PRIDE fight under his belt albeit a decision loss back on 5/29. Since then he's won and lost his past 2 QFC matches and will be looking impress in his KINGS debut.

Jin Kazama (3-0-0) versus Babar Barappas (3-0-0) will see a Welterweight showdown between two undefeated fighters. Kazama has looked very good in his 3 QFC fights winning all of them by submission. Finland's Barappas who fights out of the Tokyo Shooto gym has also won his 3 QFC matches by submission. This should be a very interesting fight and the winner could move to the top of KINGS Welterweight division.

Middlewight's Kaz Shiroma (3-0-0) and Frances Marc Tong Panong (1-1-0) will do battle. Shiroma debut's in KINGS after winning his previous 3 QFC fights all by TKO, so his knock out ability is impressive. The French fighter Panong comes into KINGS on a winning streak knocking out his last QFC opponent.

Masato Kobayashi and Gagik Haroetjunjan will fight under special Kickboxing rules. Both fighters attributes have been set for stand up only fighting. KINGS introduced there Kickboxing division back on 6/18 (3rd ADVANCE) with lots of success.

Finland's Tomi Rajala (2-0-0) will go to war with China's Ma Bu (1-2-0) in a Light Heavyweight fight. Rajala will make his KINGS debut after 2 QFC decision victories. Bu returns for his third fight in KINGS still looking for his 1st win in the organization.

[Results] KINGS 6th ADVANCE

KING OF KINGS returned to a sold out Hayashi's Lounge in downtown Tokyo Japan for their "6th ADVANCE" event which took place on Saturday July 4th 2009. The event scored an overall 85.90 rating.

In the main event, the Featherweight title was on the line. Vegas Top Team's Masakazu Aoki (5-0-0) took little time in slipping a triangle submission on Garnett Layden (4-2-0) at 2:30 of the 1st round for the victory. Aoki took the fight to the ground early and after a flurry of submission attempts was able to finally beat Layden and lock in the submission. Masakazu Aoki becomes the new KINGS Featherweight Champion!

In the semi-main event, Heavyweight Hunter Rose (1-2-0) attempted the monumental task of trying to bring down the giant 270lbs Super-Hulk Luka Nesto (5-0-0) but it was too no avail as Nesto ended the fight early in the 1st round with a rear naked choke submission. Rose made a valiant effort being outweight by over 50 pounds and showed a lot of heart and soul but in the end Nesto was just powerful an opponent.

Welterweight Keiji Suzuki (4-0-0) made an excellent first impression in KINGS as he defeated Devin Buckner (2-3-0) by judges unanimous decision after the two fought a 20 minute war. Suzuki has now positioned himself as a top Welterweight. Despite the loss, Buckner put up a heck of a fight and will be looking to rebound in the near future.

Osuka Kasumia (3-1-0) beat Takumi Fujiwara (2-2-0) in what was a fantastic Middlewight fight. Halfway through the second round Kasumia was able to lock in a arm triangle for the win in another tough fought match. Kasumia is now one of the best Middleweight's in KINGS and a title fight could be on the horizon.

Bantamewight Edgar Humperdink (3-1-0) bounced back nicely from a recent loss 6/22 to defeat KINGS newcomer Kenta Yoshida (0-1-0) using a nicely executed rear naked choke at 6:04 in the 1st. Humperdink will have his sights set on the KINGS Bantamweight Champion Ryobun Akagi.

Mika Huima (3-1-0) beat Hanamichi Ono (2-3-0) in a Heavyweight showdown. At 5:03 of the first round it was Humia who locked in a tight armbar and Ono was unable to escape giving Huima his third pro victory.

Lightweight's Glen Burnett (1-2-1) and Jushin Kusanagi (3-4-1) went the 20 minute distance in their fight. It was an exciting back and fourth battle and very close to call. In the end, Judge Yuuki Gou scored the fight for Kusanagi, Judge Yukihiro Shimada scored the fight for Burnett and Judge Taro Takaoka scored the fight as a draw.

Go Okami (2-1-0) returned to KINGS after a loss in his debut with a TKO win over Minamoto Yoritomo (3-3-0). This one lasted just 44 second as Okami broke out of the gate and overwhelmed Yoritomo landing a flurry of strikes and forcing the referee to the stop the match.

Reginald Walker (2-0-0) was successful in his KINGS debut as he defeated Kazu Saku (1-3-0) via TKO in just 18 seconds. Walker rushed out at the openig of the match and finished off Saku in no time flat. Walker is looking like a possible contender in the Middleweight division.

KING OF KINGS will return next Saturday July 11th for the "7th ADVANCE" when Ronnie Carlton (5-1-0) will face Logan Strauss (3-0-0) for the (vacant) Light Heavyweight Championship.

Hot on the heels of an amazing show on June 18th, KINGS invades the 1,000-seat Tokyo Underground when the 4th ADVANCE will take place Monday June 22nd.

Osaka Radio Interview - Go Okami

KING OF KINGS newcomer Go Okami (1-0-0) discussed his upcoming match on June 22nd at KINGS "4th ADVANCE" on radio station FM-Osaka 85.1.

Jun 18th radio interview with Go Okami in Osaka, Japan (translated to english);

We are here live with Osaka's own home town MMA fighter Go "Tsunami" Okamiiii... it is good to have you Go.

"Hello. Great day it is today."

Couldn't agree more. After a first round KO victory over Kalevi Perse, you make your KING OF KINGS debut on the 22nd

"Correct."

So how do you feel going into this fight? Do you have any thoughts on your opponent?

"I am training hard at Tokyo Shooto. I hear he has a purple belt in jujitsu so I have been in the gym training with instructor Triangle, doing everything I can to make sure my opponent does not submit me. I feel very confident going into this fight, I did not come to KING OF KINGS to lose."

It's obvious you want to keep this one standing...

"Yes but I will be prepared to fight on the ground. I do not expect him to stay on his feet for long."

Why?

"I respect him as a fighter but he does not want to stand toe to toe with me more than he has to."

Why is that?

"It would benefit him not to."

Ha, you're confident in your boxing. Anything you would like Logan Strauss to know?

"I have been training very hard. I fight to win."

I'm sure he does too, anything else you would like to say?

"Be ready for a fight or you will regret it when you wake up."

Good stuff! It was good having you Go, we wish you the best of luck. People of Osaka, that was your very own Go Okami.. He will be making his KING OF KINGS debut against fighter Logan Strauss at the Underground in Tokyo on 6/22/09. Go there and show your support!

[News] KINGS Title Revealed

From their Tokyo headquarters today, KING OF KINGS President Ito Masakari revealed information on how the weight class championship titles would be distributed and the look of these title belts.

Masakari said, "Eventually, each weight class will have a champion. We are working on building up the weight classes in KINGS so there are a sufficient amount of fighters to contend for titles. Unlike many of the other MMA organizations, KINGS will not hold a Grand Prix to award champions. Instead, we will take the top two ranked fighters in each weight class and they will battle for the vacant title in a decision match."
